Filling the gap, FYBA opens its 10th division, the OPEN VARSITY

The announcement of the free jerseys for the youth created so much excitement in the FYBA community. It left the adults and those who are in the threshold of adulthood feeling a bit left behind.

For these young adults, many of whom started out as Peewees and Bantams during FYBA’s first season, not playing on a Sunday afternoon seem to be a bit odd. On the other hand, competition in the OPEN Division have become really tough that some players have been struggling to keep up.

These developments did not go unnoticed. To fill these gaps, FYBA is announcing its 10th division, called OPEN VARSITY, and is extended to the larger Asian American community.

Requirements for OPEN VARSITY, you must be either

– between 18 to 23 years of age

OR

– 5’11” and under in height (no age limit)

Open Varsity director Rod Vicente is excited about this new division, he says that “not only that it fills the gap, in some ways, it levels the playing field.” The OPEN VARSITY will debut in the spring 2012 season and will be a great addition to the FYBA community.
